Hello Northstar Dental Family!
Being at home due to the mandated shutdown has certainly been challenging. As we reflect on how our world has changed, we recognize these changes have also had some positive effects and have allowed us the time to think about why we became dentists and dental staff members to begin with. We realize how much we enjoy what we are doing on a day to day basis, how we are impacting people’s overall health in addition to their dental health. We value the relationships we have developed with all of our patients over the years. We are committed to excellence, not just in our knowledge and our clinical skills, but to our belief in delivering a great patient experience every day! We appreciate each and every one of you in our practice and cannot wait to see you soon! With that being said, our office has re-opened on Monday, May 11th, 2020!
In addition to our already high level of sterilization and patient comfort, we have implemented many new procedures post COVID-19. Most of the protocols have been standard for us, but you may not have been aware of them. We have always followed the strict Universal Precautions of the American Dental Association. This protocol demands that asepsis and sterilization protocols for all room surfaces, equipment, instruments, etc. be treated and disinfected after every patient is seen, in every room, every day. Below is the updated protocol we will be following post COVID-19.
1. One to Three Days before your appointment we will call you to ask questions about your health and recent travels before coming into our office. We will also ask for your estimated patient portion for your appointment to limit your exposure time at our checkout area. When you arrive for your appointment, please remain in your car and call or text us to let us know you have arrived. We will let you know when we are ready for you to come in. We are requesting that you were a mask before entering our office. We also ask that your family or friends remain in your car to minimize the number or people in the office at any given moment.
2. When you walk into our office, you will notice everybody working in our office will be wearing a mask. We will work diligently to communicate with our eyes, yet we will greatly miss giving and getting smiles. Our front staff will greet you and will take your temperature and ask a couple additional screening questions. We will have you sign a consent form before being brought to the back.
3. We will have you rinse with Oracare, which is a proven antiviral mouth rinse, before entering the operatory. During your appointment we will continue to follow the recommended OSHA guidelines that have been common place in our office from inception. Once treatment and clerical necessities are completed, you will be escorted to the exit with your face mask on.
All these things are being done to ensure your safety while you are in our care. Also these rules are rigid, and yet necessary, it will not change our love or our devotion to you, our patient. We are quite sure that these changes will remain in place until we can test every patient coming into the office for COVID-19 or there is a vaccine developed to give us all immunity to this virus. Most of all, what you need to know is that you will be safe and well cared for at Northstar Dental.
Sincerely, Eric Adler and the Northstar Dental Team!
