Bonding vs. Veneers, Which One Is Better?

Posted on 10/25/2021 by Northstar Dental
Bonding vs. Veneers, Which One Is Better? With so many ways to restore the looks of a smile, it is normal to be unsure which would be the best option for you. Bondings and veneers are two minimally-invasive cosmetic treatments that, although similar at first, have a different set of pros to take into account. Every mouth is different, so here at our office, it is important for us to pick the method that would best suit your case.

What Are Dental Bonding and Dental Veneers?

Dental bonding is a cosmetic technique that involves the application of a tooth-colored resin to the surface of a tooth. The dental bonding resin is very durable and matches the color of existing teeth to blend in your smile, resulting in highly durable and natural results.

Dental veneers, on the other hand, are a thin coating of porcelain that cover the front of each tooth. We make porcelain dental veneers from very high-quality ceramic and apply them to the surface of the tooth to give it a natural tooth-like look and restore the appearance of teeth.

Is Dental Bonding A Better Option?

It is possible to fix the most frequent aesthetic flaws on teeth using dental adhesives and porcelain veneers. Dental bonding, however, is a fantastic alternative if your tooth issues are small and do not require substantial treatment.

While there is a lot of overlap between what dental veneers and dental bonding have to offer, there are a few instances where dental bonding is the best option. They are useful to whiten discolored teeth, fill tiny gaps between teeth, repair chipped, fractured, or decaying teeth, enhance their form or length, and protect portions of teeth exposed to receding gum lines. We also place the resin on a single session, not requiring anesthesia in most cases.

Bondings and veneers can help you regain the aesthetics of your smile, and they last for a long time with good maintenance. If you are not sure which of these procedures might be the best for you, please contact us today and we can help you decide.
