An Overview of Getting Replacement Veneers

Posted on 9/21/2021 by Northstar Dental
An Overview of Getting Replacement VeneersWhen you first got your veneers, they were immaculate. Perhaps you got them to correct a crooked tooth, or because you didn't like the color of your teeth. Whatever the reasoning, you've had them for some time now and you notice that they don't quite look like they used to. It may be time to consider getting replacement veneers.

Veneer Lifespan

Under normal circumstances your veneers will last around 10 years. If you are exceptionally careful, you may be able to extend that to 20 years. But eventually you may need to replace them. Whether you need to replace just one, several, or all of the veneers will depend greatly on the circumstances.

Reasons to replace a veneer are diverse and can include a broken or cracked veneer, a stained veneer, a veneer that is simply worn down, or even tooth decay in the underlying tooth. Whatever the reason, when it's time to replace your veneer, it helps to understand the process.

Replacing Your Veneers

When you come see us for a veneer replacement, first we will very carefully inspect your current veneers. The solution we propose may vary depending on what we find.

Once we have determined which veneers need to be replaced, we will carefully remove them from your teeth. Then, we will remove the bonding that caused the old veneer to be attached to your tooth. Following this, the process will be much like it was when you originally got your veneers: we will take a mold of the tooth, create the veneer in a dental laboratory, and affix the new veneer to your tooth. After that, you're good to go!

If you have any questions about getting replacement veneers, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to help you!
