Are Digital X-rays Really That Important?

Posted on 8/20/2019 by Northstar Dental
Are Digital X-rays Really That Important?Technology is always changing. There is always something new that can help you with your oral health. While x-rays are not new, they have changed.

It is now possible to get digital x-rays. Some people may think if the old x-rays worked, why turn to something new. Learning how digital x-rays work and what they offer can help people understand if they are important to get.

The Importance of X-Rays

We have used x-rays to help diagnose problems with your oral health for a long time. The x-rays allow us to see what happens beneath the skin and inside of the teeth. They are the best way to determine what a problem is and the extent of the problem. X-rays are a part of your routine checkups and also help when you have a problem. They are a great tool, but they are not perfect. They require time to develop and they everyone to a small amount of radiation. While the radiation is not dangerous for the patient, it is still not the best thing to deal with.

Why Turn to Digital X-Rays?

Digital x-rays take advantage of the advances in technology. They offer many benefits over traditional x-rays. The first is the speed with which we get to see the x-rays. There is no need to develop the film when using digital x-rays. The images appear on the monitor when the picture is taken. Seeing x-rays right away allows us to make sure we are seeing everything we need.

Digital x-rays are safer than traditional x-rays. They reduce the radiation by about 80%. This makes it safer for both the patients and our staff.

The biggest benefit of digital x-rays is our ability to enhance the images. This allows us to get a better picture of what is happening with your teeth and gums. Digital x-rays allow us to see problems that we may have missed with traditional x-rays.

Digital x-rays are an important tool because of all the benefits they offer. Traditional x-rays are good, but digital are just that much better. If you want to know more about x-rays, call our office.
